Red Sox Nation

Okay folks, what does Theo go out and get for us. I think our bats are fine, I would like another outfielder with pop, but I am looking at middle relief and scratching my head.  These guys are not giving the support to the starting pitchers on a consistent basis. Who is out there, is Cleveland having a fire sale, how about the Royals or the Pirates? SOMEBODY has to want to unload a middle reliever.

Its about time Varitek stepped up to the plate and did something about the situation.  He is our Captain after all and i applaud him for doing what he did.  I personally feel Boras is an a$$hole, but if i was a top athlete i would want him representing me too.   I hear that Varitek said he didnt know that if another team signed him the sox would give up a first round draft pick.  i dunno how a guy that studys and knows the game as well as he does wouldnt know that but that is one of the reports.  In my mind there is no doubt he is the smartest catcher in all of baseball, and he is the only player i believe that has ever caught 4 no-hitters.  I think there is no-one else right now that could step in and do what he has done.  yeah he hasnt been the greatest offensive player, but without a doubt he has made our pitching staff INCREDIBLE.  not that they wouldnt already be good, but he is a master behind the plate.  He has helped to development of the likes of Jon Lester, as well as others.  I cant wait to see him signed.  i would even like to see him dump Boras who cost him tons of money this off season, but as lone as we sign our captain i will be happy.  i like this years team.  the pick up of penny and smoltz will make things very interesting in the AL East, and i think that another shot at World Series is coming.  anyone heard any word on what they are gonna offer to Bay for an extention?

Not sure if anyone caught it last  night  but the new MLB TV (Time Warner 169 up here in Maine) ran two things about the Sox last night.  One was a recap of the2004 series and the other was about the Sox in general.  Totally got me psyched for the upcoming season.  Each year as soon as Jan 1 hits I am ready to go.  Go Sox!
